Get ready for Mouse to take you through all things vocal comping and arrangement. Not a vocalist nor planning on working with one? The principles still apply when recording instruments. This course is also a thorough foundation for producers seeking to get better performances out of vocalists.
In part one, find out exactly what the term ‘comping’ means and how it’s used to create a perfect, seamless take. Learn how to express different emotions when recording, to choose from a breadth of performance styles when selecting the very best of your takes. Mouse will teach you how to use both take folders and track alternatives within Logic, so you can select your favourite method of comping which is exactly right for your project.
Once you’ve got your ideal take, learn how to use Logic’s built-in Flex Pitch and Flex Rhythm functionality to get your vocal bang on in time and in perfect pitch.
In part two, Mouse discusses the importance of reference tracks when planning the dynamic flow of your song. Take a deep dive into double tracking, recording marmite (people really do love it or hate it!), including what it is and how to approach it for best results. Not only does this course cover vertical arrangement, but also horizontal arrangement too: using vocal arrangement and objective processing to create width and emulate chorus effects. Finally, if you fancy yourself as a pop diva, or simply would like to spice up your tracks with some ad libs, Mouse explains how best to approach the parts of a song that make us want to pull out our hairbrushes.
