Mixing (the mixdown) is one of the most integral parts of the music making process. Many tracks have fallen down at this point and many tracks get chucked on the scrap heap due to the creator not being able to get the mix right for the track.
A mixdown can make or break a track but with this mixing playlist we hope that we can help you get deep into the dark art of the mixdown and come out of it a better mix engineer. The content of this playlist has been curated from the existing content on the website. Many of the lessons in this playlist will be featured in other courses covering various topics so to save you from scouring through tonnes of courses we have done the hard work for you.
This playlist will cover processes such as EQ, balance, subtractive and additive EQ, Dynamic EQ, compression, saturation, Mono & Stereo, The frequency spectrum, relationships between key parts of a track such as the Kick and Sub and so much more.
It is important to not confuse the mixing process with the mastering process. These are 2 very different situations. That being said – a good mixdown is how we achieve a great master! A good mastering engineer will tell you that the better a track is mixed the less they have to do their end when mastering so please take the time to watch as much of this content as possible and get your knowledge in a good place with it.
